The Square to Square chairty cycle challenge team, with the assistance and advice of Will at Wight Mountain, Newport, have chosen the bikes for the charity cycle challenge 2008.
Scott Sportster P3, 2008
The Scott Sportster P3, 2008, was chosen as being the best choice of price, availability, reliability and suitability for the training and event ride of the challenge, with each cyclist expecting to have to cover approximately 1,400 miles for the challenge from St Thomas’ Square, Newport, Isle of Wight, United Kingdom to the Vatican Square, Italy.
The bikes are expected to be delivered in early October 2007 so tha the team can get used to the bikes during their training sessions in prepration for the challenge.
The support of Zyro Limited, is much appreciated in assisting with obtaining the new range of 2008 Scott bikes.

Launch at the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival 2007 of the Square to Square Charity Cycle Challenge 2008
The team, supporters and respresentatives from the Wessex Cancer Trust will be at the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival for the launch of the 2008 cycling challenge, on Saturday 15th September 2007, at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.
Not only with the team and support crew be at the festival, there will be respresentatives from the Wessex Cancer Trust, Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, along with supporters and families of the team.
The team will be at the festival from 12 noon, with the launch at approximately 12.15pm for a few hours. Look out for a couple of fire engines to find the team!

The Isle of Wight Cycling Festival is a celebration of all things cycling and pedal power.
‘The Festival will launch at Seaclose Park, Newport with a fantastic Cycle Show where there will be all kinds of cycling experiences to take part in. Highlights of the day will include a mountain bike stunt display and the crazy ‘Sink or Swim’ Cycle the Medina event that see cycle eccentrics create pedal powered crafts that will get them from one side of the river to the other – hopefully without getting wet! This year we will be welcoming TV celebrity Charlie Dimmock to start the Sink or Swim race.’

The Square to Square Charity Cycle Team and supporters raise £1412 at first charity car wash
The team and supporters, including Green Watch at Newport Fire Station, raise £1412 at the first charity car wash held to raise money for the Square to Square Charity Cycle Challenge 2008.
The superb total raised was achieved by firefighters, control and support staff washing cars for the public in return for a donation to the Square to Square Charity Cycle Challenge 2008.
Team hope to raise £25,000
The team are delighted to have made such a great start to the fundraising effort and a great start on the way to achieving there total of £25,000 for the Wessex Cancer Trust for the support and care of Isle of Wight Cancer patients and their families.
A big thank you to all who had their car washed at this event and donated to the challenge.
