The SQ2SQ 2008 Team completed Day 5 of the challenge, by cycling for 106 miles and 7 hours 39 minutes in the saddle.
Day 5 completed in truly horrendous conditions with 7 hours 39 mins in the saddle - thunderstorms and torrential rain, with little or no let up in the rain for most of the day. Apparently the weather was extraordinary for the region with storms not seen like that in many years.
Despite these conditions the Team completed 107 miles, but had to go further than planned to find accommodation (a hotel instead of a camp site as planned, but more comfortable for the Team following the day). This would mean an additional 20 miles for Day 6 to get the Team back on route for the climb into the Alps.
