SQ2SQ 2008: Actual mileage 130 miles

The SQ2SQ 2008 Team completed Day 6 of the challenge, cycling 130 miles with 9 hours 44 mins in the saddle; the Team had cycled 100 miles before reaching the base of the mountain for the start of the 30 mile climb.

This day was the start of the climb into the Alps region, climbing to a height 1,945 metres (total climb of 3,891 metres for each cyclist for the day).

Day 6 completed with 9 hours 44 mins in the saddle - this was a long and arduous day climbing the Alps, with 100 miles completed before reaching the foot of the mountains. The Team then had 30 miles of constant climbing an average of 6% gradient, but at times it even was 14%, to climb the Col De Lauterat, with the Team ending the ascent in the dark.

Total mileage for the day 130 miles.

However, the weather was fine dry, sunny and warm: 27 C and this lifted the spirits of the Team.

The Team could not complete the descent to the camp site as planned due to this being far too dangerous in the dark and so instead were transported by the support vehicles.
